I accidentally deleted an option from an order. Can I restore it?

If an option or customization was accidentally removed from an order, Shopify doesn’t currently provide a way to restore it in the admin. However, the original option value should still be visible in a few places, which you can check below.


Check the order status page

The original option selections still appear on the order status page.

Steps:

  1. Open the order in your Shopify admin

  2. Click More actions

  3. Click View order status page

This page shows the order the same way the customer saw it after checkout


Check the order confirmation email

If your order confirmation email includes product options, the selections sent to the customer will still be displayed. You can open the confirmation email from the order timeline to check.

Steps:

  1. Open the order in Shopify

  2. Look in the timeline

  3. Find the Order confirmation email

  4. Click View email

The email often shows the option selections the customer chose at checkout.


Check the order data (advanced)

You can also check the order’s raw data to see if the option is still stored there.

Steps:

  1. Open the order in your Shopify admin

  2. In your browser address bar, add .json to the end of the order URL

  3. Press Enter

Once the page loads, use your browser search:

Mac: Command + F Windows: Ctrl + F

Try searching for:

• the option name (for example: Installation option) • the word properties

If the option still exists in the order data, you may see something like this:
