# Add-on Pricing and Shopify Discounts

### How Discounts Work with Add-on Pricing

**Think of it like a gift set.** Once the products are bundled together, Shopify treats them as one bundled purchase when applying discounts. Because of this, any bundled add-ons, or prices, are discounted whenever the parent product qualifies for a Shopify discount.

### Can I exclude add-on prices from Shopify discounts?

No. Shopify doesn't provide a way to discount only the main product while excluding bundled add-ons, or standalone add-on prices. If a Shopify discount applies to your parent product, it also applies to any bundled add-ons, or priced selections.

### Which discounts are affected?

This applies regardless of how your Shopify discount is configured, including:

* Percentage discounts
* Fixed amount discounts
* Buy X Get Y promotions
* Discount codes
* Automatic discounts

It also doesn't matter whether your discount is limited to a specific product or collection. If the main product qualifies for the discount, the bundled add-ons are discounted as well.

### Example

Your store sells:

* T-shirt: **$20**
* Gift wrap add-on: **$5**

A customer purchases the T-shirt with gift wrap and applies a **10% off** discount.

Because Shopify treats the purchase as a bundled product for discount purposes, the gift wrap also receives a 10% discount.

### Percentage add-ons

A percentage add-on is calculated from the product's price after discounts.

For example, a 10% add-on on a $50.00 product adds $5.00 normally, but $4.00 when the product is 20% off.

### Before You Launch a Promotion

Before launching a promotion, we recommend testing the discount on your storefront to confirm it behaves as expected with your bundled products.
