# Should I Use Native Bundling or Product Bundling?

## Native Bundling vs Product Bundling

Infinite Options offers two ways to bundle priced add-ons with a product:

* **Native Bundling** (recommended) and the Product bundling (legacy)

Both methods allow customers to add priced options to a product, but they differ in how add-ons are handled in Shopify.

## Legacy plans

If you're using a legacy Infinite Options plan, you have more than one option depending on your current setup.

* **Product Bundling** remains available for legacy plans
* **Native Bundling** is available on newer plans. 

## Which bundling method should I use?

For most stores, [**Native Bundling**](/infinite-options/welcome/native-bundling.md) is the recommended option.

Native Bundling provides:

* Better compatibility with modern Shopify features
* Cleaner cart behavior
* Support for Shop Pay and accelerated checkout buttons
* Hidden add-on products
* Pricing managed directly in Infinite Options

You may still choose [**Product Bundling**](/infinite-options/increase-the-cost-of-an-option/product-bundles.md) if:

* Your store was configured before Native Bundling was introduced.
* You haven't upgraded your existing setup.
* You rely on Shopify Buy X Get Y promotions and prefer add-ons to behave as separate products.
* A third-party app you're using isn't compatible with Native Bundling.

While Product Bundling remains fully supported, new features and improvements are focused on Native Bundling.

## What is Product Bundling?

Product Bundling is Infinite Options' original bundling method.

With Product Bundling:

* Add-on products must be **Active** and available on the **Online Store** sales channel.
* Add-on products appear as separate products in the cart.
* Customers can purchase add-on products individually if they find them on your storefront.
* Removing the main product from the cart may leave add-on products behind.
* Shop Pay and other accelerated checkout buttons are hidden on product pages with configured options.

This behavior is intentional. Accelerated checkout buttons bypass the cart, so they can't include the add-on products required for Product Bundling.

Shop Pay remains available from the cart and checkout.

## What is Native Bundling?

Native Bundling is the newer and recommended bundling method.

With Native Bundling:

* Add-on products are linked directly to the main product using Shopify's native bundle functionality.
* Add-on products don't need to be available on the Online Store sales channel.
* Removing the main product automatically removes all bundled add-ons.
* Shop Pay and accelerated checkout buttons remain available on the product page.
* Option pricing is managed directly in Infinite Options.
* Native Bundling uses Shopify's newest Cart API for improved compatibility with modern Shopify features.

## What happens if I switch to Native Bundling?

You don't need to recreate your existing bundles.

When you enable Native Bundling:

* Your existing add-on products remain in place.
* Your bundles begin using Shopify's native bundle behavior.
* Cart and order behavior updates automatically.

Native Bundling is available on the Professional plan. If you're on a legacy plan, you'll be prompted to upgrade before enabling it.

## How do customers see price changes for add-ons?

To display price changes directly on the product page, add the **Dynamic Bundle Price** block to your theme.

The Dynamic Bundle Price block:

* Works with both Product Bundling and Native Bundling.
* Updates the displayed product price as customers select priced options.
