Theme options visible in the editor but not showing on the storefront

If your Infinite Options fields appear in the theme editor but not when viewing the product on your live site, it usually comes down to how the product or template is set up in Shopify.

Below are the most common reasons this happens.


1. The product is not available to the Online Store channel

Infinite Options runs on the storefront product page.

If a product is set to Draft, or is not available to the Online Store sales channel, Shopify will not fully load the storefront product page and the options will not appear.

To check this:

  1. Open the product in Shopify admin.

  2. Make sure the product status is set to Active.

  3. Make sure it is available to the Online Store channel.

Once the product is available to the Online Store, the options should display on the storefront.


2. The option set is not assigned to that product

Options only display when the product matches the option set’s assignment rules.

Review the option set and make sure the product qualifies based on how it’s assigned. For example:

  • The product is directly selected in the option set

  • The product has the required tag

  • The option set is assigned to All Products

If you are using multiple conditions (such as tags, collections, or product handles), also double check whether your assignment rules are set to AND or OR.

  • AND means the product must meet all listed conditions

  • OR means the product only needs to meet one of them

If the product does not meet all the conditions, the options will not display.

You can quickly confirm which products are currently matched by clicking the “Preview X matching products” link inside the option set. This shows you exactly which products qualify under the current rules.

If the product you’re testing does not appear in that preview list, it does not meet the assignment conditions.


3. The Infinite Options app block is not added to the live product template

Sometimes the app block is added in one theme or product template, but not another.

This can happen if you:

  • Duplicate a theme

  • Switch themes

  • Create a new product template

To check:

  1. Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize

  2. Open the product template being used by that product

  3. Confirm the Infinite Options app block is present

If the block is missing, add it and save your changes.


Good to know

  • Infinite Options displays in the theme editor because that environment renders the storefront template.

  • If options appear in the editor but not on the live site, the cause is usually related to product availability, assignment rules, or template differences.

  • Infinite Options does not display inside the Shopify admin product editor.
