# Why am I seeing the error “Cannot retrieve file” in Uploadery?

This message appears when Uploadery can no longer access a file that was uploaded with an order.

Uploadery stores uploaded files for six months. After that time, the files are automatically removed from storage.

If the order is older than six months, the uploaded file is no longer available, and the system may display the error **“Cannot retrieve file.”**

If you expect to need uploaded files for longer than six months, we recommend downloading and saving them locally after orders are placed so you have a permanent copy.
